About Punyu Hotel

Founded in 1989 by the Late Jairus Shikale in the wake of Namibia’s Independence, Punyu Hotel was established out of a growing need for accommodation in northern Namibia. At the time, accommodation options were scarce, forcing traders and travelers journeying through the region to continue on to Oshakati in search of lodging. Recognizing this challenge through his own experience as a businessman, Jairus Shikale founded the hotel to provide a welcoming and convenient place of rest for both local and international visitors.

The name “Punyu Hotel” reflects an open invitation to travelers from near and far — a true home away from home. Since its establishment, the hotel has continued to uphold a culture rooted in honour, warmth, respect, and friendliness, ensuring that every guest experiences genuine Namibian hospitality.

Nestled in a private and quiet setting, the hotel remains conveniently close to key attractions and amenities. Guests are within walking distance of vibrant local open markets, grocery supermarkets, and fuel stations. The hotel is located just a 3‑minute drive from Onandjokwe State Hospital, an 8‑minute drive from Nakambale Museum, and approximately 10 minutes from the bustling Ondangwa town centre.
